After seeing this post I googled Habitat For Humanity Restore and low and behold there is one here! So I frantically got in the car to explore this fun place! I found these old kitchen cabinets for 2 bucks a piece. I took the hinges off.
Then spray painted just the indention with Valspar baby blue spray paint in satin.
I then cut out some Amy Butler paper and mod podged around the edges
Next came the chalk board paint. I was too lazy to tape, think I might do it next time to get the lines perfecto.
I then wrote with chalk a quote I found on this amazing blog! I loved it and had been waiting to put it in my kitchen!
Side note: I got the cake stand at Goodwill the other day for 4 bucks! LOOOVE it!

Natalie,
What a fun idea! You are so creative! Did you use a brush-on or spray chalkboard paint? I have never used them before, do you need two coats??
What a great idea! I have just GOT to get me some chalkboard paint! So many great ways to use it!
oh my gosh...I have one of those stores here, but have never been to it...guess I know where I will be this weekend! :)
I love how the natural lines of the cabinet perfectly frame the chalkboard! The paper you used is beautiful! So creative!
Great use of a cabinet door! Love it! Chalk boards are so much fun!

That is a classy, snazzy, zippy, lovely chalkboard. No utilitarian look here. I love it!
This is not a comment specific to today's blog entry ~ but could you please mention in your blog the name of the manufacturer for the Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint you used to paint your chandelier....PLEASE, I want to get some for a project this weekend.....thanks in advance for your prompt attention to my question....
also, is this the same paint you used in the bathroom for the black light fixture and mirror????
Edna,
The Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint we used was Krylon from Walmart.
Of course you figured out something to do with those cabinets. Why am I so surprised? You are so talented!
Oh my! Love what you've done with the cabinet door! Wow. So fabulous. Love the Amy Butler paper and that you used the middle section as a chalkboard! I Googled Habitat Restore and we have one here in San Diego too! Yippee! I feel a road trip coming soon.
