Isn't She Loverly?

We are finally done with our china cabinet, and I think she turned out better then I had imagined!

We scored the deal of the century on this one!  We love you Craigslist!

I would first like to thank my hunk of a hubby for all the help he gave me on this project! I had the inspiration, he  had the brawn, and the tools (this thing is freakin HEAVY!)

And of course I have to thank my new best friend Mr. spray gun, if it had not been for you, I would still be painting in all those nooks and crannies!:)
Drumroll please!!!!

I think the old man we bought her from would be proud with what we transformed his Momma's china cabinet into!:)

SQUEAL!!!!

Is it possible to be in love with a piece of furniture?

I distressed her just a little with some sand paper

I might do just a little more

And here she is wearing all her accessories.

I shopped my house, and this is what I came up with.

Hubby says I have to wait at least a week untill I buy something else on Craigslist to redo.

Don't think I will ever find a deal like this again!  But that's not going to keep me from trying!:)

I am linking this post to A Soft Place To Land, for Kimba's DIY day and
And finally to The Shabby Nest for Wendy's frugal friday party

I was wondering what you were going to do with the hardware. I think by painting them the same color allows the eye to more easily observe all the detail in the woodwork.

I don't have any sisters, other than step ones but we are not really close unfortunately. But I do have a lovely daughter, and we
    have a very special bond.

  55. This is my first time to your blog and I love it. I found you through Kimba at A Soft Place To Land. I love your china cabinet. It is beautiful! I just finished mine too and it is similar to yours. I will post about it soon. I will try to link to Kimba's. I still have to put all of my china, etc. in it and take pictures. Oh and I wish that I would have sprayed it. I painted with a brush into all of those crevices and curves. It took a long time! Next time I will know better!

    Nice to meet you,

    ReplyDelete
  82. Wow-- I just found you and the makeovers are great. I LOVE seeing b & a china cabinets for some reason I am scared to paint mine....

    ReplyDelete
  83. Absolutely beautiful but you need to put some dishes or items with color in that white china closet. What type of white paint did you all use and did you have to haul the furniture elsewhere to spray it? You can look at it and tell it was good furniture from the beginning. Maybe you can take pictures and send to the seller, with a personal note. Do you use flat white, eggshell or gloss? Does a sealer go on top of the base coat? Wonder job, pat yourself on the backs.

  84. I love your China Cabinet after your redo but also liked it before you redid it. Guess I am admitting to being of the older generation.

  85. To make the color come alive and more vibrant, put some Owatrol Oil that might help remove the moulds. It will help the wood last long too.
