Firewood is what my hubby called this table and chairs as he was loading it into the back of his truck. I called it pure potential. I just knew she could be beautiful, and for thirty dollars, I didn't care to much if for some reason she didn't turn out. Craigslist I love you!

I forgot to take before pictures, so here are the pictures the guy texted me.

She needed a major face lift and I was up for the challenge.

Remember the chandelier I took from my neighbors curb? I gave her a face lift too. Are you ready for my dining room reveal? Keep in mind it cost me a total of 40 dollars plus paint. Thirty for the table and chairs, and 10 for the roll of upholstery fabric I got at the consignment store down the street. Drum roll..............

Not bad huh?

The weather has been amazing this week, so I actually got to paint outside without melting away.

I think I love her!

Another awesome thing about this table is that it helped me get to know my neighbors! They are just wonderful! We talked and talked, while I painted, and our kids played together! Hi Kristen!:)

I actually had to paint her twice. The first time I used glaze, and didn't like how it looked, so we repainted, and just used a sander to rough her up a bit.

New beginnings

What happens when your Husband gives you a call from work and says "How would you feel about moving to Texas?" and before I have a chance to answer he says, " The company wants us there within the next few weeks!" I will tell you what happens, your world gets turned upside down!

So this my friends is why you haven't heard from me in a while, I frantically got the house ready to put on the market, flew to Texas twice to look for a rental, moved to a town I had never heard of, and have been trying to start a new life here in the Gulf Coast!

We decided to leave our house staged in hopes that it would help it sell, and just brought necessities with us. It has been so hard for me, not being able to decorate here, and not have all my pretty things, but anything to help in the sell of our home it worth the sacrifice!:)

So here I sit, in an empty house, in a far off land, a land that is more humid and hot than I have EVER experienced. The first few weeks were really hard. I am a get ready kind of girl. I love hair and makeup. So after a few attempts to get all Sariahfied, I have almost given up. The curls just fall out, and the makeup melts off! ( I did just get my hair cut yesterday I took in this picture)

I think the girl did a pretty good job. I will post a picture whenever I get around to getting gussied up!:)

I have to admit that there is something special about the people in Texas. They are the friendliest bunch of people I have ever met! We have been so welcomed in our new little town! This has made the move so much easier for me! A girl has got to have girlfriends, and I have been totally embraced.

I have only known these ladies about a month, and I feel like we have been life long friends!! I love them!!!

So what is a girl to do when she has no furniture (besides mattresses)? She starts stalking Craigslist! Our rental is bigger than our casa in The Land of Enchantment, so we have room to get some pieces to get us by.

First off, we of course had to bring the TV, so we needed a place to put it. Here is the ugly 70's dresser before

So there you have it, our new TV Stand! I have so many more projects to get started on, but it is so hot here, I can't be outside 5 minutes without melting away!

One last picture before I go. So here in Texas, I guess it is totally acceptable to dig through your neighbors trash on trash day. I hear people leave all kinds of treasures on their curbs. Never thought I would actually do it, but when I saw this chandy in my neighbors trash I could not resist it. The possibilities just started rushing through my mind, and I grabbed it!!!!

I can't wait to show you what I did with her!!!

A Little Love Can Go A Long Way

I acquired this when my next door neighbors moved out.

Pretty, eh? Yikes!

My neighbors 14 year old daughter used it as a dart board.

But I saw some potential in this little mistreated gem. She just needed some love.

I gave her a good sanding down.

Used some...rather, a LOT of wood filler.

Primed her.

Painted her with the colors Bon Voyage and Ionic Sky. And wah lah!

A new mini craft station for my kiddos.

It is so nice to have a place to stash the coloring books, crayons, etc. and they can access it when they want instead of begging me to get it out for them.

From Drab to Fab

While spending time with Enchantress 2 in Central Cali, we came across a garage sale that was closing down for the day. He said, "Take anything you want". Sweet! I am kickin' myself that I didn't take more. One of the things I acquired was this drab piece of art.

I really just liked the frame and had no idea what I was going to do with it. Free right?

Well one night I was thinking that my bedroom needed something else on the walls and a friend of mine who was moving had just given me a bunch of her craft supplies which included orange paint. So...I looked to my bed pillows,

and hibiscus arrangement for inspiration. (I acquired that sailboat painting from the garage sale as well...so fun!)

This was the result. From drab to fab!

And I really like it. I am not a painter by any means but I just figured if I messed it up it was free...right? It really adds a pop of color that our white rental walls needed.

I think it now needs something to flank the sides. Hmmm?

I rarely buy shoes. Gasp! I know, I must have something wrong with me. Today however I went to Payless
to look for some spring/summer shoes and came home with these 3 pair. I was trying to get outside of my box of buying only brown or black, and while 2 of the 3 are brown or contain black I think they have sass and personality. How do you think I did?

Have you heard of the World's Smallest Postal Service? I have used them in the past to send their "World's smallest Valentine" complete with magnifying glass to read it! This year I send out their smallest package and cards for Mother's Day gifts. That teeny-tiny bouquet of flowers is just too sweet!

It is not very often that all 3 of us are in the same place at the same time, so when it happens we cherish every second!!! Oh how I love my sisters. We are best friends~ kindred spirits. No one gets me like these two. They know all my secrets and still accept and love me unconditionally! If only we lived next door! Love you girls eternally!

And to answer a few questions about Emmy's room. The color on the walls is Sultan by Kwal cl 21750, but I color matched it at Wal-mart. I got the polka dot comforters at walmart.com

Stroll Through Target

As I was on my bi-weekly stroll throught Target, the new line Liberty of London

stopped me in my tracks and I literally gasped with glee!

Oh my glory! These pictures do not do this line justice, I wanted to buy every single thing!

This bedding will be mine..umm I mean my daughters!

And this lampshade to go on her side table!

I could not leave empty handed, and after an excited call to hubby that ended in "Calm down, it will be there for a while!"I did only end up buying the above two teir tray to put on her dresser! I thought it would be perfect to put her jewlery/ lip gloss on!

And how fun would it be to to be matchy matchy with my girlies! Yes, I am that girl:) I would probably add a brown belt to the shirt.

I have a feeling I will be the owner of many of these items soon, because I do NEED this adorible swimsuit

and this amazing clutch!

I suggest going down to your local target right now, before I buy it all and there is nothing left for the rest of ya!:)

Emmy's Room Reveal

I am so excited to show ya'll Emmy's room!!!! When I get an idea in my crazy brain, it is all I can think about until it has come to pass!:)

I have to admit though, when we got the first coat of this blue up on the wall, I was freaking out a little bit.

But I knew once all the elements came together it would all work out.

Now Miss Emmy has her very own big girl room!

A room that Mommy doesn't want to leave because she is in love!

With the sweet little girl who abides there,

And, the way It makes her feel happy and childlike when inside.

I could have never pulled this off without the help of my friend Amber, who I called 100 times a day to bounce my insane ideas off of,

And Vinyl Silhouettes, for their amazing custom vinyl!

And a sweet hubby, who I know secretly thinks my ideas may be a little over the top, but goes along with every single one!

I couldn't be happier with the outcome!

Emmy's Dresser

As I mentioned in the previous post, I am re-decorating my daughters room! She had been sharing this dresser with my other daughter until a few weeks ago when I scored an entire bedroom set off of Craigslist for $300 (This is a whole other post in itself)

This dresser was mine when I was a little girl and I love it, but not exactly what I was going for in Emmy's new big girl room. So whats a girl to do when she doesn't want to get rid of said dresser? Give it a makeover of course!

I am proud to say I did this one pretty much all by myself! Hubby bought me a sander ( Who would have ever thought I would be excited about recieveing a sander as a gift?) My dad would be proud!:)

All I did was sand her,

Paint her white,

add a little glaze to antique her,

spray paint the existing hardware,

And accessorize!

So in love!

These cute trays are in the 2.50 section at Target right now, and it was the perfect shape, and color to add Emmy's Silhouette from Vinyl Silhouettes to!

I am so excited to show you the finished room!!! I realize I am an over the top kind of gal and it is not for everyone, but I loooooooooovvvvveeeeee it!
I can not wait to show you all the finished product!!! I am just missing a few little things and I will be done!

4 Dollar Lamp Re-do

I have been a busy little bee re-decorating my daughters room! Right now people (Hubby/friends) probably think I am crazy, but I have it all planned out in my little head! Once it is all together, I just know it will look bee-you-tee-ful!!!

I found this lamp at Savers yesterday for 4 dollars.

Baby Shower Bouquet and Tutorial

Remember my Hugs and Kisses Baby Shower? Well, I thought I would share my gift/centerpiece for the gift table.

What mom-to-be doesn't love flowers? Especially ones that will benefit her baby and not wither away?!

I used baby socks, washcloths, and bibs for the roses.

Supplies: floral sticks (I couldn't find any without the wire attached and so I just wound the wire around the top of the stick), artificial rose leaves (I cut some off of some dollar store roses), floral tape, and desired colors of baby socks, washcloths, and bibs. I think the ones with the frilly/scalloped edges turn out the cutest.

Step 1:

Simply start a tight roll at the toe end of the sock (for the washcloths, fold lengthwise in half then in half again, then roll at an angle. Same with the bibs).

Continue to roll up.

Step 2:

Take the opening of the sock and fold it around the bottom of the rose.

Step 3:

Place floral stick in the base of the rose.

Step 4:

Holding firmly, tightly wrap the floral tape around the rose base and stick.

Step 5:

Wrap all the way down making sure it is secure so the rose won't unravel. Add a set of leaves and wrap more floral tape around them to hold in place.

Arrange them all in a container/vase of your choice. I chose this one to match the hugs and kisses theme(found in dollar section at Target). I then added some little artificial flowers to fill in the gaps.

I also found this cute headband and clip set that matched the colors so I added them on as part of the gift. Super easy and super cute.

Niches, Nichos, Everywhere!

I have to confess that Southwestern style homes are not my favorite. I dream of living in a bee-you-tee-ful Victorian home with wood floors, moldings, character, and green grass. (actually any grass would be good!)

But what can I do? I live in the Southwest, in the middle of the desert, and I have been trying really hard to count my many blessings, (name them one by one:) and fall in love with my Casa in New Mexico!:)

One cool feature many Southwestern homes have are the Niches. They are all over the place. The natives call them nichos, which makes me think of nachos which inturn makes me hungry. I think we are in need of a nacho night girlfriends!!! Holla!!

Anywho, I have been having a hard time figuring out what to do with these little recesses in my wall!

The above niche, nicho, nacho, had been that way until I got ahold of some Deep Walnut paint! (Valspar from Lowe's)

Did you know you can blow up your pictures poster size at Sam's Club for 12 bucks? You heard me right my friends. I have blown up pictures all over my house! The bigger the better I always say!:)

So now every morning when I am getting ready, I get to see my cute little princesses looking down on me from my Niche! I think it turned out pretty good, better then before anyway. The painting did not stop there, I have gone a little crazy with the Deep Walnut. Hubby is going to be so surprised when he comes home from his week long business trip! You gotta keep things new and exciting right? I will show you the results soon!

Only 3 more niches to figure out what to do with. I have searched high and low for the perfect thing to put in these suckers in my courtyard for 2 years!!! I need your ideas!!!! Till next time mi amigos:)

Valentines

First off, I wanted to give a shout out to my lil sis and her awesome party throwing skills!!! She amazes the heck out of me! Love that girl!

I have been in a blogging slump lately and finally feel like I am coming out of it!

Thought I would share the Valentines I made for my daughters school parties.

These were sooo fun, cheap, and easy! I Just printed these pictures off my computer(wallet size) punched a hole through and stuck a sucker in each one! The sparkly hearts I bought a few months ago at Savers! A bag filled with 30 hearts was a dollar! I knew they would come in handy!:)

For the girls teachers I bought these cute containers at the dollar store and filled them with candy! I think they turned out so cute!

LOOOOOOVE THEM!

I had to post this picture because it makes me laugh so hard! I always knew I was tall, but I look like a freakin Amazon woman! Mom always said I was Big and Majestic! Holla!!!! I love these girlies so much! My friend Amber (to my left) Has the most amazing style and has inspired me to "Fall in love with my house again." I need to do a post on her house, she has no fear, and her home is kick awesome! So get ready for some redecorating, painting posts in the future! I'm baaaccckkk!:)

Hugs and Kisses Baby Shower

Prior to the shower, I asked my friend Shauna to convince the mom-of-honor she needed belly pictures with her little girl. I asked Shauna to capture lots of hugs and kisses in the photos. Well, thank goodness for Costco's one-hour photo and Shauna's sweet skills. They turned out AMAZING. This same Shauna took a lot of the following photos in this post so I am going to put her name under the ones she took. (Just FYI, giving credit were credit is due).

Here is the entry table flanked with giant kisses and photos of the mom-of-honor's girls (1 in utero).

I had the guests write down their wishes and advice for the mom-of-honor on the mini Valentine book in the center.

The party favors were Hugs chapsticks I found at Target. I wrapped them in tulle and put them in a cute kisses bin.

The mantle. Remember my XOX banner? I added some photos to it and instant personalized cuteness.

I used mini wooden clothesline clips with glue-gunned on heart jewels to attach the photos. All the daisy's you will see I found for 40% off at our local craft store Beverlys. I glued alligator clips on the back to ease in decorating.

Hershey Kisses were EVERYWHERE! Hershey Hugs too! In fact we played a game "Count the Kisses" where the guests had to guess how many there were throughout the house. The grand total...and I did count them...was 686! I loved the huge kisses!

All the mini frames I found at Micheals in the dollar section. I fell in love with them but there were only pink and red ones among yellow, blue, and green. I bought a few blue ones and spray painted them brown to match our color scheme. Then I simply inserted some scrapbook paper to match the banner and it all ties in.

My friend Sarah dresses up her chairs in her home like this for every holiday. It is so easy and makes a huge statement. It takes about 3 yards per chair and you simply tie a bow and let it drape down. You can put whatever flower or accent you want in the middle. I found the least expensive tulle to be at Wal-Mart, only 97cents a yard!

Majo, my partner in crime for this shower, decorated the tables with pink and red daisy's and...

...simple white gifts with coordinating ribbon. Very cute and inexpensive!

This was the extra seating in the kitchen. Heart plates courtesy of Target Valentine clearance last year.

Photo wall hanging = tulle, bars (I had at home, curtain rods would work), ribbon, little frames, glue gun, fun tack. You create the illusion that the pictures are hanging but in reality they are fun tacked or taped to the wall with the ribbon glue gunned to the back and draped over the bar.

Hugs photo. Costco has fun borders for your photos. This heart one was perfect.

My favorite photo of little daughter kissin' mommy's belly. I think that all of the photos really personalized the event and made it that much more special.

Here I am making the fluffy punch. 7-UP, cranberry juice, rasberry sherbet and frozen rasberries to keep it cold.

The cake topper mommy was made out of fondant by another friend Melissa. How do people pull off baby showers by themselves? Thank goodness for teamwork!

So many people contributed! The luncheon included a pasta bar so the guests could go through and make their own how they wanted it. Marinara, alfredo, pesto, raviolis, macaroni noodles, etc., and I made some manicotti as well. Poppy seed salad and cesear salad were served as well as garlic bread and rolls. It was a simple spread and I of course forgot to get a picture of it, but it was pretty, I promise.

Hugs and Kisses Banner

A friend and I are planning a hugs and kisses baby shower in February and I wanted to make a XOX banner. I came across this one at yourhomebasedmom.com. It was so adorable I made my own. She has a great tutorial but here is how I did mine.

I used Word to blow up an X and an O and then printed them out on cardstock. I cut them out and then traced them on some foamboard (the hearts I just free handed).

I cut out the foamboard letters with an exacto knife and then spray glued some scrapbook paper on them. I used the exacto knife again to slice around the paper and foam leaving a perfect fit.

After drying, I used a sharp pencil to poke holes through the shapes. An ice pick or kabob stick probably would have worked better but I didn't have one on hand. I carefully threaded ribbon through the holes and...

...TADA! A cute hugs and kisses banner. So simple!

I am getting excited to display it at the shower and use it in my own home for Valentine's Day!

NEW backsplash and countertops!!!

Remember how I painted my kitchen cabinets back in March?! It made such a big difference in my kitchen! I have loved having the cabinets updated with paint and new hardware.

We have now completed phases 2 & 3 of our remodel. 1- Granite counter tops which we had installed, and 2- a new slate back splash that was a DIY job. (Mostly by my He-man hubby!) Like most of you out there in the real world, we are on a budget and like to use cash for major purchases. For that reason we do still have all of our old appliances, though we might phase them out over time.
Here she is BEFORE. (Yes my kitchen is a "she" because in a house full of boys I need some company!)

Here are some shots during the back splash INSTALL PICTURES. The old tile was white and the forest green color that was popular back in 1999. We went with slate instead of travertine. The color is called Mongolian desert that we felt went with our new granite called Taboo.

Dry Spell

So, I ran into a girlfriend of mine at Savers this morning (Hi Jamee:) And she said to me "Girl you need to get a new post up!" And I confessed to her that the truth is, is that I have been going through a creative dry spell. I have got NOTHING! And I have been feeling really overwelmed and depressed about it! It is not like me to not want to be creating constantly!

She then went on to tell me that her and her crafting group made the flowers I posted about a while ago, and they loved them. I then mentioned to her I have been making necklaces with them, and she said that I should do a post on them, so here I go! (Thanks Jamee for giving me the push I needed to get back to blogging!:)

Can you tell by the above picture that I love these flowers?:) I put them on EVERYTHING! My clothes, my hair, my girls hair, my shoes, my bags etc!!

I decided to try to make one of those amazing bib necklaces that are all the rage right now, and it is pretty darn easy! I didn't sew a stitch! I attached clips to the back of the flowers, and used a bowl as a template to cut out some felt

I then used hot glue to attach ribbon to the bib, then just clipped the flowers on. This way I can change out the flowers to create other necklaces. The possibilities, and color choices are endless!

Here is how it looks on, soooo simple!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas season! I know it is so hard not to get caught up in the hussle and bustle, the parties, and presents. I hope we can all remember what we are truly celebrating ~ the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ!!! I am so thankful to know that through him I can be forgiven for all my faults and failures!!

My Favorite Things

320 Sycamore is having a My Favorite Things party. I am late, but thought it would be fun to link up!

My mom seems to think this is going to kill me, but I LOOOVE Diet Coke, and it has to be from Sonic. Add some diet cherry and you have perfection!

Hot Tamales are also a favorite of mine! They are too spicy for my girls so I get them all to myself!

Speaking of spicy, green chile is one of my very most favorite things. Where I come from, people put green chile on everything, and in everything. The hotter the better! I am not kidding when I say we bought 60 pounds this season. They roast them for you, then you stick them in the freezer, so you can enjoy all year round!

Next on my list would have to be Forever21! I love this store because you can find cute, trendy clothes, without breaking the bank. Sometimes you have to look at outfits, and find ways to make them more modest. For example they call this a dress, I could just see the look on my friends faces if I came to a playdate in this, but add some cute skinny jeans, sassy black boots that your hubby got you for your anniversary, and you have an adorible outfit! This one is on my Christmas list!

Right in the middle of my favorite things list are my two daughters. I had to stick them in here!:)

I have been using great lash mascara by Mabeline for years and I love it. I recently tried the new Big brush kind, and it will now be what I buy!! Works wonders, and is the cheapest.

I think everyone knows by now that my new camera is one of my favorite things! I have been having the time of my life with this thing, and am obsessed with it!

My Too Much Dress:)

I saw this amazing tutorial over at Hope Studios and literally got up and ran to find the supplies around mi casa! I have made almost every kind of flower there ever was, and this is definately my favorite!

These were just what I needed to revamp an old dress, and if you look closely I couldn't stop there, I had to add them to my shoes as well!

My hair was jealous, so I had to make one for it too!:)

Once when a friend and I were making a craft, she stopped to ask me "Do you think this is too much?" I replied, "You are asking the queen of too much, if it is too much?! You only live once, so why not add a little too much to your life, even if it is only by sassying up your wardrobe with kick awesome flowers!!

So, if you are a friend of mine, try to act suprised when you get some bee-you-tee-ful flowers for Christmas! The funny thing is, is that allot of my closest friends rairly read this blog, or don't even know we have one, so I think I am pretty safe!

I picked these blue sconces up when I was in Kansas City this past summer for 3 bucks a piece. They have been sitting in my garage begging me to give them a makeover every time I walked by. I finally got around to it and have to say I love how they turned out!

I still haven't decided what color of candles to use, black maybe?

I also had to share some amazing pictures I caught with my new baby, I mean camera, the other day! I had been sick with the flu and was up eariler than usual. As I got up and walked past my window the view of the sun rising over the mountains stopped me dead in my tracks!

It was just what I needed to see, I even teared up thinking of all the beauty my Heavenly Father has blessed my life with! I get so caught up in daily routines, I forget to stop and look at the beauty all around me.

This is right outside my door! And blessings are abundant inside my door!

Sick with my Snuggie

My dear sisters make so much fun of me because I am the queen of infomercials! I seriously think I could get a job being a spokeswoman for all these amazing inventions!:) I recently celebrated a birthday and I squealed with delight when this came in the mail! My sisters know me all too well! This zebra snuggie was my b-day present from Enchantress #1, and I have to admit it has come is very handy!

A few days after my birthday I came down with the flu and have been wearing my snuggie nonstop for 48 hours straight! Hubby makes fun of me everytime he walks in the room, but I don't care! I am warm, cozy, and stylish all at the same time! I love me some animal print!:)

If you happen to be a seamstress (which I am not) you must go visit my friend Jen at Viette View, where she gives a tutorial on how to make your own snuggies! She made them for her kiddos and they are ADORIBLE!

Before you go running off to either buy or make your new snuggies, you have to check out this amazing lamp transformation! I pride myself on being able to see the potential in most things, but would have probably passed this one by! My adorible friend Amber (who happens to be an AMAZING seamstress and makes the most beautiful quilts and made me the cutest apron for my birthday:) Transformed this ugly lamp into....

This BEE-YOU-TEE-FUL lamp!!! My jaw dropped when I saw this!

New Camera, Tutorials, And A Winner!

Never have I been so excited about a gift!! Hubby did really good this year! My sweet in-laws also chipped in to get me my new baby! Yes, this is me and my birthday present! Don't we look good together?:) I think we are a perfect fit! We will from now on never be apart, I will always have you around my neck, ready to shoot at a moments notice! Now that you have met my third child, here are a few projects I have been up to lately. Jen at Tatertots and Jello amazes me constantly with her creativity and ideas. She recently gave a tutorial on how to make amazing tassels out of burlap! As soon as I saw them I grabbed my laptop and went to my creating center and followed her step by step! I had everything on hand, no trips to Hobby Lobby to make this, and I plan on making tons more!! Thanks Jen!

My daughters of course had to join in, and my 7 year old asked if I would PLEASE post the tassel she made, so here is my daughters version of Jens tassels!

Tidy Mom is another blog that I love and follow! So many wonderful tips and amazing ideas! She recently posted a tutorial on how to make these adorable candy corn cookies! I have now made these for my daughters birthday party, for a church activity day, and for 2 classroom parties! They are a hit, and really easy! Make these and your kids, their classmates, and friends will think you are the coolest mom ever!

Here is a bunch of boring text to go with my last post. You can skip it and just look at the pictures. It won't hurt my feelings!
My favorite Halloween decor this year is my collection of poison and potions bottles. The 3 large labels are Martha Stewart from Micheal's craft store. The smaller ones are words I cut out and taped on. The skulls and other glittered bones under the cheese tray are from the Dollar Tree, I glittered some and left some plain. More framed M.S. scrapbook paper.
*We are in the process of picking out granite and tile for a new kitchen backsplash so those are samples you see in the background. :)

The pumpkin pillows and runners are all things I made. The glitter skeleton hanging on the wreath was also from Dollar Tree. I added the glitter. The Halloween banner is just black card stock cut in half (one sheet makes 2 rectangles) with letters cut out from patterned paper, then stapled onto black ribbon. I burned the edges of the ribbon so they won't fray.

Framed, Silhouette, Picture Wall! / First Giveaway!

I have been wanting to create a framed photo wall for some time now, to display some of the pictures my daughters and I had taken this summer. So, the hunt was on for some cheap frames that had good lines. Here are a few that I have picked up over the past few months, none costing more than three dollars. I also wanted some oval shaped frames and was having a hard time finding any, so I came up with this solution. I bought two of these cheap plastic platters at the dollar store and painted them. I knew exactly what I wanted to put in them.

After using one can of black spray paint, here is the finished product.

I am loving the dramatic statement this makes in my entryway! I used the same paint to paint the platters that I used on my entry table.

And put these AMAZING silhouettes of my girls in them, which brings me to some exciting news!

We are finally done with our china cabinet, and I think she turned out better then I had imagined!

We scored the deal of the century on this one! We love you Craigslist!

I would first like to thank my hunk of a hubby for all the help he gave me on this project! I had the inspiration, he had the brawn, and the tools (this thing is freakin HEAVY!)

And of course I have to thank my new best friend Mr. spray gun, if it had not been for you, I would still be painting in all those nooks and crannies!:)

I scored this beauty on Craigslist for an unbelieveable price! The sweet man just wanted her to go to a good family~ Ooh, ooh, we are a good family!! (at least we try really hard to be! :)

Even hubby was amazed with my find, she is solid wood and huge!

Fluffy Chick Tutorial

I know Halloween is in our midst but I wanted to get this tutorial out in case any of you happened to be waiting for it. I think this would really be a great project for Easter but here is the tutorial on my fluffy tulle chicks that I created for my friend Lisa's baby shower.

For the small chickies; take about a yard of yellow, gold, white or whatever desired color of tulle and lay it out as it would have come off of the spool. Roll it up and cut about 1 1/2 in. wide pieces off.

Gather 7-8 pieces (more if you want more fluff) in the middle to start the body of the chick.

Cut in center, combine halves, and fold again.

Fold and cut until approximate desired length of body is desired.

It doesn't have to be perfectly even. Gently pull out a strand of tulle and knot it around the center of the bunch.

Repeat steps above to make a second ball of tull for the head.
I like to trim and shape the head a little bit before I tie it to the body. Be sure to leave the ties long so you can combine the balls of tulle.

Tie the "head" piece to the "body" piece and knot a couple times. Make sure it is tight but be careful not to break the tulle. If you do, no biggie, grab another strand of tulle and tie over it.

Fluff and spread the tulle to cover the ties. Then hold over a trash can and trim to desired shape (this is the fun part). You can shape wings and a tail or just make it all nice and even.
Next, the face. Simply cut open small googly eyes and use glue dots to adhere to the tulle. Trim a small triangle out of yellow felt to become the beak.
I also used yellow felt for the feet. Trim about a 5 in. long, 1/2 in. wide rectangle. Fold in half and cut out feet. Unfold, then bend at the center to make them form a 'V'. Use glue dot to hold in place and adhere under the chick.
They are all unique and just make me smile when I look at them.

You can make all different shapes and sizes. There is really no "set in stone" way. On the yellow chickie in the middle I tied 3 balls of tulle together. The bigger chicks take more tulle to be fluffy but just play with it and see how much you need to get the desired look you want.

New Addiction

Remember my creating center Hubby let me make in the garage? Well, I have been searching for a stool so I can sit while I get my craft on. Awhile back I saw a simple wooden stool like this at Goodwill and they wanted $15 for it! Highway robbery I tell you! You can buy them brand new for that much at Wally World!

A few nights ago while doing my daily check of Craig's list, a lady was selling 3 stools for $10. I quickly e-mailed her asking if she meant $10 a piece or for all three. She replied $10 for all three! I raced over and picked them up! Confession~ Craig's list is my new addiction!

I had paint left over from my entry table so I painted them teal, and Mod podged numbers on that I cut out of Amy Butler paper!

I love how they turned out! Now, not only can I sit and get my craft on, but each of my daughters has her own stool to create on as well!

I had a few friends comment wanting to see the necklace I made from rosettes and mentioned in my last post. Here is a picture. It looks bigger than it is. Enchantress #1 called Sunday afternoon to see if I ended up wearing it to church. (I had to speak that day) Hubby answered the phone. When she asked him if I wore it, he honestly didn't know! He is very observant!:)

I also wanted to post a picture of what I put under my new cloche. I found these scary skulls at the dollar store. Yes, I am already decorating for Halloween!

Savers Savings

A Savers thrift store recently opened in town and it has been fun having another place to go to find treasures! Where I live, Goodwill can be seriously overpriced! Savers has great prices, it is clean, and very organized. I made the mistake of going to the grand opening! It was a crazy, mad house! It has calmed down quite a bit now, and I thought I would share a few of my fun finds! This lovely mirror was 6.99

I took her outside to my wilderness of a backyard, placed her gently in my spray painting chair (yes I have a special chair I use for spray painting) and gave her a few coats of pink spray paint!

I hung her in my girls room! Eye level with them and they love it! My princesses have already spent tons of time in front of their mirror doing their hair, applying lip gloss, and admiring themselves! I over heard my 4 year old telling herself how adorable she is! (Oh how I wish I had that kind of self confidence!:)

Next, I found these three pieces. The to die for cloche was 3 dollars, the candle holder 1, and the little dish 1.

I put the three together to make this beauty! LOOOOOVE it! Now I have to find the perfect thing to put inside. Any ideas?

Last, but not least, I found this sheet. I can hear you all saying gross a used sheet! But I had other plans for this! Fabric can be expensive, so I thought in my crazy mind, I am going to pull a Maria (Sound of Music) and make hair bows out of this! So, I washed it and used this tutorial to make these adorable rosettes!

I have made sooo many rosettes and I still have tons of fabric (sheet left) I used some different fabric and made a black, rosette necklace that I wore to church yesterday! So google Savers and see if there is one near you! It is a fun, cheap, place to get creative!

I started decorating for fall, so I thought I would show you what I have done so far!

Fluffy Chick Baby Shower

The inspiration for this shower came from a conversation I had with my friend Lisa prior to knowing I was going to throw her a shower. It went something like this:

Lisa: "Do you know where I can find a baby chick?"

Me: "Um, a real one?"

Lisa: "Ya,(giggle) I am CRAVING to hold a baby chick!"

Me: (Laughing)"That is so funny, I don't know, maybe out at Hacienda Hay and Feed...why a chick?"

Lisa: "We always had chickens growing up, I just love them and want to hold one so bad!"

Needless to say, when one of Lisa's friends asked me to help her throw an early term shower for Lisa because she would be leaving town soon (military husband), I knew exactly what direction I wanted to go. The problem was that we had to act fast. We threw this thing together in three weeks.

First, the invitations. It was a challenge finding chickie invites. I finally found these self printable cutie's at partypail.com

If you can't see it clearly, the invitation read:

A little birdie told us that Lisa Kendall is expecting!

Come help us feather her nest on Saturday September 5, 2009...

I then added some feathers in the envelope (no extra postage required) for an extra surprise when the guests opened it.

Next step, the decorations. I was thinking "fluffy" and decided tulle (of course) would work wonderfully.

I created balls of tulle, trimmed them, and added felt feet and beaks. I cut open 'googly eyes' and used the inside circles for the chickie's eyes. ( I will post a fluffy chick tutorial soon).

I made some mini chicks,

and put them in these bird cages that I found at Micheals Craft 80% off!

Then we hung them at the center of the buffet table,

and throughout the main room.

I wanted to make nests of some kind and so my next little project included these clearance finds:
Straw hats, garlands and shredded stuff called excelsior. (all found at Micheals Craft Store)

I gave the straw hats a light coat of brown spray paint, tore up and frayed the edges, added sprays of the garland, and completed each nest with a medium sized chick and a few feathers. We sprinkled the front porch with these nesting chicks and had a twig wreath with one nestled in it on the front door to welcome the guests. I of course forgot to get a picture of the porch, but believe me, it turned out pretty cute.

Back inside I made the nest of wisdom and wishes.

The guests each wrote their advice and wishes for the new mom and baby on the back of these paper chicks then placed them in the nest.

To make the paper chicks I simple drew and cut out a pattern on card stock then traced it onto cute paper. We are putting these in an album for a keepsake for the mother-to-be.

Inspired by the plates I found on partypail.com, I made this little chickie family out of more tulle.
The sweet plates.

On the top tier are eggs in a nest that I had on hand and found at Target's Easter clearance.

The buffet table, minus the fruit, I forgot to put that out until later...

...but I cut a watermelon like a hatched egg and put the fruit salad in it. Fun little touch.

My amazing friend Laurel made these cupcakes. I found the idea from Martha's baby bird cupcakes.
Laurel improvised on the beaks which made it much easier and just as cute I think. She simply pulled the frosting tube away to make the pointed beak. She used broken chocolate sprinkles for the eyes. They were almost too cute to eat!

We played quite a few games but these two I thought were the cutest.

1.)Notice the Chiclets around the Mom-to-be's neck? I found the Chiclets at Dollar Tree and had to use them for something! Chiclets at a Chickie Baby shower...come on!
We gave those to every guest upon entering. When someone said "baby" another person was allowed to take their necklace. It was an ongoing game throughout the shower and we had a lot of laughs from it.

Then, there was the egg game. My friend Rochelle came up with this one (she also graciously let us use her home). She took 25 items and put them in the egg! We all had to write down what we thought was in there. When time was up, the mom-to-be cracked it open and told us what was in it. It was amazing how many items could fit in there!

Last but not least, the shower favors. When I was planning the shower we didn't know if Lisa was having a girl or boy yet. I secretly wanted her to have a boy so I could play on the "chick magnet" saying for the favors. However, a few days before the shower, we found out she was having a girl. I still used the magnets because I thought they mimicked eggs in the nest and were an unique, useful gift for the guests.

I took flat-bottomed glass marbles (found at Dollar Tree), cut out these adorable chickies that I found on Etsy. Then modpodged them to the marbles.

I then used an industrial strength glue called E-6000 to glue on extra strong magnets.

I used mini straw hats (only .20 each!) and transformed them into nests.
The little sign said, "Thank you for feathering Lisa and Justin's nest today."

With touches of feathers and excelsior (that is a new word for me, you know, the shredded stuff) I placed 3 magnets in each "nest".

The guests loved these reminders of the fluffy chick shower.

Destiny on Craigs List

I had been searching for an entry table for quite awhile and knew it was destiny when I saw this pretty on Craigs list! Not only did the seller end up living right next door to one of my dearest friends,

It also had these tucked inside!:) I told the man if the Osmond eight tracks came with it, consider it sold! Score:)

We ended up taking all the fun stuff out. My mom was disappointed because she wanted to rock out to Disco Mouse, but we would have never used it, and I needed the storage.

After Hubby gutted her I planned on doing all kinds of fancy paint treatments, but after brushing on just one coat of paint, I loved how she looked!

There were now holes on both sides where the speakers used to be, so I got some bead board, painted it,and hubby installed it.

LOOOOVE IT!

So, she has been sitting like this in my entry way for 2 weeks, while I patiently waited for the knobs and pulls to be on sale at Hobby Lobby. But when I got the ones I had been planning on home, I didn't like them. So frustrating!

I ended up spray painting the original ones black and I think they will do!

Playful Pacific Patio

A little background. It all started when my neighbor moved out and gave us this...... a mini trampoline.

Now, we live in a tiny space....where on earth was I going to put this thing? I surely wasn't going to deprive my girls of the oodles of fun they could have on such a contraption. So, I took a look at my over grown, waste of space garden area and thought "what can I do to make this more kid friendly?"
Here is my only pic of the garden before. Bonus you get to see my smilin' girlie.

So, I ripped everything out while seriously underestimating the root system of the fern, then headed to Home Depot.

I knew I wanted to put in a sand box of some kind so I walked around Home Depot to find some inspiration for a divider. Hmm, these tree rings will do. I spray painted them to fit the ocean theme I was going for, then placed them in a wavy fashion across the dirt. (FYI, I used broken pieces at the ends that they gave me for free).

I dug down about 3 inches then laid trash bags on the dirt. Before laying the trash bags, I cut holes in them for drainage. I taped the trash bags together then poured bags of sand (also found at Home Depot) in to fill the space.

Next, I laid about 2 rolls of sod (only $4 a roll) on the other side of the divider to soften the area and secure the dividers. Then I created a little raised flower garden in the corner.

To add a tad more fun, I found this piece of potential tossed out by my recycling bins. How could someone get rid of such a treasure?

I sanded and spray painted with a wave stencil.

Glued a metal welcome sign to the table that I taped off and painted 9 squares on.

Then glued magnets to some wooden cuties to create a magnetic tic-tac-toe board.

My next project, the interpretive, magnetic story board. I used more of those metal welcome signs from the dollar store and mod podged sea landscapes on them. I simply tore paper into desired shapes and glued them on.

Then, I had this cute outdoor place mat and sewed the sides up to make a pocket for holding all of the magnets for the story board (Excuse my beautiful toes:) I was just trying to add to the downward perspective).

I just used the glue gun to stick magnets on these wooden cuties and wah-lah...an interpretive magnetic story board. (Also works as patio art).

Last but not least,

I had to save SOME space for me.

I took baby food jars, spray painted the lids, punched a hole through them and threaded ribbon through the hole. Then I secured it with multiple knots, nailed it to the fence and attached the jars to the lids.

Now some of our tiny seashore treasures have a special place protected from the elements. (I found the sea glass on clearance at Michael's Craft and just thought it was pretty).

Before hanging the baby food jars, I dipped the end's of the ribbon that the nail's were going through into clear nail polish. This allowed a more secure fastening and the ribbon will be less likely to fray at the end.

That completes my Playful Pacific Patio makeover. We have already done picnic's and play date's galore out there. I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner. Both my children and I are MUCH happier now that they have an outdoor space to play in while we are home.

Blog Make Over

You may have noticed that our little blog has had an extreme makeover! We, the Enchantresses 3 have limited computer skills, and have wanted to change it up for some time, but didn't know how!
One of the reasons we love blogging is for the way it connects us to other amazingly, talented, women, who share our interests and in turn we can be inspired by each others different talents and ideas!

I have been a reader of the adorable blog LittleLovables
for quite some time, and could spend forever reading through old posts! I just know if I were to meet Lisa in person we would be the best of friends! She has such amazing style!

Well, Lisa offered to make us a new blog banner out of the kindness of her heart. Seriously who does that for someone they have never met?

If you have never visited LittleLovables you must! I seriously do not know where she finds the time, but she has the most amazing ETSY shop called JeweledAmbrosia where she makes and sells the most amazing vintage inspired jewelery!!!

Shabby Chicalicious Baby Shower Part II

Our next project included the metal chargers, fishing line, bling, and tulle. We created our own simplified chandeliers. Here is Enchantress #3 froofing the tulle. I love that stuff!

We hung two of them at the center of the main room.
They hovered over Sarah's signature diaper cake.

Command hooks work great to temporarily hang decorations!
After making these I totally want to redecorate my girls' room centered around them!
These homemade chandeliers can be made with any type of frame you desire and you can hang anything you want from it. Sarah, being the genius she is, suggested they would also make gorgeous baby mobiles to hang above a crib! How cute would that be?

Next I had to show you a.) how Sarah uses scrap paper to hide water bottle labels, and b.) these ADORABLE lids she found for regular ol' mason jars to make for some fun sippin'!

These oh-so-cute daisy lids can be found here.

We can't forget the cakes. Another friend Stephanie made these and they were not only beautiful but delicious!

Then...Sarah was inspired by this site ,(which also has a great tutorial) so we searched out our houses as well as antique and goodwill stores to find cute handkerchiefs. We simply used rubber bands and ribbon to hold them on both small and large mason jars.

We added hanging wire and flora. These were so simple and really added that shabby feel to go with all of our bling.

Last but certainly not least...the candy buffet!

I had way too much fun collecting pink and yellow candy for the past 2 months.

A candy buffet not only makes your colors pop, but provides a chicalicious take home favor that the guests can enjoy helping themselves too.

Cabinet Door Makeover

We are joining Kimba again today for her weekly DIY party! I was so inspired by all the amazing ideas from last weeks party, here is what I came up with for this week.

After seeing this post I googled Habitat For Humanity Restore and low and behold there is one here! So I frantically got in the car to explore this fun place! I found these old kitchen cabinets for 2 bucks a piece. I took the hinges off.

Then spray painted just the indention with Valspar baby blue spray paint in satin.

I then cut out some Amy Butler paper and mod podged around the edges

Next came the chalk board paint. I was too lazy to tape, think I might do it next time to get the lines perfecto.

I then wrote with chalk a quote I found on this amazing blog! I loved it and had been waiting to put it in my kitchen!

Here is the finished product! I think it turned out pretty darn cute!!

Side note: I got the cake stand at Goodwill the other day for 4 bucks! LOOOVE it!

Shabby-Chicalicious Baby Shower, Part I

My creative-bring-it-on friend Sarah and I threw a pink and yellow shabby-chic baby shower for our dear gal pal Rochel and her soon to be little girl Madelyn Rose last Saturday.

Project 1: Coffee filter roses. We really wanted to play on the "Rose" with that being the little one's middle name and all.

Sarah found this idea on Martha Stewart and I thought she was crazy at first, but after we got the hang of it, it was so fun and the results were amazing. The tutorial is on the Martha Stewart site so I don't go into too much detail here.

We printed out the templates then traced, cut out, floral taped, painted and curled each petal!

All the petals on.

Sarah water colored these and then let them dry while stuck in a shoe box.

After they are dry the curling begins and really makes them come alive!

Add a floral stem, a few leaves and some live clippings from the backyard and you have a gorgeous bouquet!

Project 2: After searching my place for shabby-chic inspiration, I found these metal chargers that I bought on Easter clearance. I was wanting to make some sort of wall hanging with them in my girls room but Sarah and I were inspired to turn some of them into "candleliers" instead.
We added some tulle, baby food jars, tea light candles, and a few shimmery Christmas ornaments I had laying around.

We hung them in the tree along the entry sidewalk to welcome the guests. This was so easy!

Here is the front porch.

Garland with coffee filter roses and shabby chandelier greeted the guests...

...along with plant stands that I found 2 for $5 bucks and spray painted them white. We then wrapped tulle around them and accented with some blue bling that were found at Michaels Craft store. I happened to have them in my daughters treasure chest. I just love utilizing things around the house!

Here is the entry table complete with some coffee filter roses, baby food jars w/tulle, and framed scrap paper.

Let's check out those realistic roses one more time. :)

A Giant Pair of Silverware!

As I was walking through Savers in Kansas City with my cute mom-in-law, I think she must have thought I was crazy when I saw this fork and spoon and had to have them! Little did she know that I had been seeing them around blog land, and in Pottery Barn, and knew it had to be destiny! Total for my blue metal utensils~6 bucks. I had first planned on spray painting them oil rubbed bronze, but they were out at Walmart and I am not the most patient person,( I wanted to do it now!) so I just sprayed them black.

I had to post a picture of the cute chicken I got at Hobby Lobby for 80% off! I think she is adorable! Total ~3 bucks!

Fun,Frugal, Finds

I went to Goodwill yesterday to see if they had gotten any new treasures since I have been gone on vacation, and these were my finds.

I got this tray for 2 bucks, cleaned it out, spray painted it, and taped cute Amy Butler paper in it......

and hung it above my cabinets. It has been needing some color up there. I love it!

I also found this Ballard Home Designs inspired vase for one buck! Can you believe that my friends? Loooove it!

Glitter Wall Treatment / Sydney's Room

We are linking up today to Kimba's do it yourself party, because we love Kimba, and we love parties! When I have crazy idea for something this is how it usually goes down. Example:

Me~Honey I want daughters room to sparkle, how about we put glitter all over her walls?

Hubby(As eyes are rolling) What?

Me~Lets blow glitter all over the freshly painted wall!

Hubby ( after a few days of complaining) Get the supplies and I will help, hope it looks OK.

Me~ Oh have no fear, it is going to be kick awesome!

Hubby always goes along with my ideas and 95% of the time he is happy with the outcome!:) So this is how we did it. As hubby painted, I went behind and blew, yes blew iridescent glitter all over the walls! You should have seen us afterward, we were very sparkly;) I don't mind being sparkly, but hubby not so much, so we went and jumped in the pool afterwards.

These pictures do not do it justice, it is amazing!!!!! Click on the pictures to see it closer! It is especially beautiful at night with the night light on it glimmers and our daughter loooooves it!

She said "Thanks Mommy and Daddy for putting fairy dust on my walls!" Making it all worthwhile!

These next few pictures are of my dear friends daughters room, she just got done with!! I am like a proud momma! I think it looks amazing!

Her hubby, and my hubby made the headboard out of plywood , batting, and fabric. They staple gunned it on and I love how it turned out!

She used spray paint to paint the chair rail, and made the comforter herself! She has got some serious quilt making skills! The dresser was a 5 buck garage sale find that she also spray painted loooove it!

This little cupboard was also a 5 dollar garage sale find that she spray painted! The room looks amazing! I am so proud of you Ashley! You are kick awesome!

DIY 1/2 bath re-do (twice)

Enchantress #1 here, as in I'm the oldest, but a girl can dream right?! :) Today I'm participating in Kimba's DIY par-tay.
Here are some pictures of one of my 1/2 baths that had been begging attention. The wallpaper stripping and painting was done about 7 months ago. I spray painted the mirror and light fixtures but didn't love them. They were originally gold.
I also didn't do much with the walls at the time. I think I was worn out from the stripping (of wallpaper that is) and painting.

Here are a couple shots of the process of painting/stripping fruit wall paper from the original home owner's decor.

This was gold & the glass fixtures are new. I don't LOVE them per say, but they are much better then the originals.

Enter Enchantress #2 who is currently here visiting me in Kansas City. She graciously helped me add some wall bling and burlap window treatments to add to the tropical feel of my already beached out home. I also spray painted over my old paint job with some oil rubbed bronze. I like it a lot better.

Everything on this wall was stuff I had laying around my casa. We framed some Amy Butler scrapbook paper. I bought a set of blue and green hand towels to match the framed "art" and rotate out. I'm sure with my 3 boys that will happen often.

Va-vooming a Vinyl Wall Quote

Enchantress #3 here. I have a lone vinyl saying "Family, a Journey to Forever" on my wall that I found on clearance at Target. I love it, but it was just so naked by itself. It needed a little va-voom. I made a trip out to Utah and fell in LOVE with a store called Rod Works. Everything was super affordable. Here are some of my finds that I combined to make a new focal point in my living room.

The rod.

I added some brown and blue paint to the ends of the rod and then rubbed off the excess. I think it helps the design pop.

I immediately fell in love with this clock. The colors and style fit my taste perfectly.

I added a touch of blue to the pendants to highlight the details on them.

I found these little wrought iron people and thought they would go great with the family theme...

...tied them up with a little ribbon to match...

...and va-voom the boring vinyl has a new dimension. I think it is a lot more pleasing to the eye.

Burlap+Enchantress=Love

So, I have been seeing burlap being used all over blog land, but I didn't realize the love I would feel for this cheap fabric until I bought some yesterday and put it to use throughout my Casa!!!! My cute canisters that have been in my pantry are finally out on my counter!

And, my table runner I copied from all the amazing blogs out there- SO easy! Even hubby noticed it and said "That looks nice." Hubby never notices!:)

Finally I had to post a picture of the cute wire basket I got at Goodwill today for a buck! I also got two of these little plants for 2 bucks a piece! My cute mom-in-law sent me this book ~The Find, it is a must read for all you thrifty decorators out there!

So now I am frantically searching through blog land, trying to find more fun things to do with my new love!

Delight In The Little Things

I squealed with glee after finding the idea from Kara to use a old soccer ball to make a topiary! Is this delighting in the little things? I got so excited about this awesome paper towel holder I found at Hobby Lobby I could hardly contain myself, and am so in love with this fun chalkboard platter I made I cant keep from smiling! Is this delighting in the little things? ( Hubby is thankful that I am so easily delighted! Who knew a paper towel holder could cause such happiness!)

I did not delight in this taranchula we found crawling up our house yesterday, because I do not like spiders. But, I did delight in the fact that he is harmless and will eat all the other bugs lurking around our house.

My heart skipped a beat with delight when I found this chandelier at a thrift store the other day for 15 dollars! I could see her inner beauty and knew all she needed was a little makeover ! (Don't we all every once and a while?)

A couple coats of Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint later and she is gorgeous!

I first wanted to hang her above my bathtub, but for some electrical reason, it would have been a lot more work then hubby wanted to put forth, so he hung her in our entry way! Is she not delightful?:)

I think I love her, and I cant help being so delighted every time I walk past her!

Corsage Tee

Perhaps you've seen this darling shirt from J.Crew for $29.50.

Here's what you need to make your own (or in my case several) for a fraction of the cost.
Needed: 1 scoop or V- neck t-shirt. These are from Target the Merona brand, regularly $8.99 bought on sale for $6 each

A pattern for your petals in this case, a heart. (My friend Cheri the genius behind this project just "eye-balled" it.) She also had the idea to cut out a star pattern and make a corsage star shirt for the 4th of July.

Buy 1 XXL shirt in a matching color to make your petals. One of these bad boys made petals for 6 shirts and we still had some left over.

Cut out hearts, two at a time if you can. Each shirt took 14-16 hearts for the "corsage". You can do more or less depending on the fullness you want.

You can do this project easily on your own, but it was so much more fun with friends!

Here's Cheri wearing her gray one she had already made. Once again wonderful friends who share their talents and ideas.

STEPS:
Sew on your first heart/petal. *The t-shirt fabric will not fray.* We used a sewing machine but you can do it by hand too. Make 3 stitches front, 3 stitches back and you're done.

Add another heart. The tighter you bunch them together to fuller your corsage will look. Each shirt I did turned out different. Just lay them on there, don't over-think it. You can go back and easily move petals around if you aren't happy with how something looks.

3 petals into it, & you can start to see how it's going to look.

A "Hang Loose" Tutorial, I mean very loose

How to create P.B.esque wall signs.
We are linking this post up to Kimbas DIY day
Get some CHEAP wood. By cheap I mean free or close to it. This wood came packed around some washers and dryers so it was free. First we measured and cut it down.

Here are J.K. & C.S. cutting the wood down. Both amazing and creative women in their own right. They both are always willing to SHARE a great find, idea or talent. Which I think is a gift in itself.

Then we sanded the front and edges really well. (I've discovered a love of power tools, with this project, I'm thinking "my hubster" needs some new ones for Father's Day...)

Have an inspiration!
For J.K. (who is a private gal so I won't link her) it is anything old/antique-y.
C.S. is hanging her "all you need is love" signs around gorgeous family pictures.
Our family loves to travel and anything tropical, so we came up with our own ideas and found more by "surfing" the net. ha ha pun intended! I'm a dork.

Paint your signs a solid color. We just used craft paint J.K. had at her house (free), and then printed out the phrases we wanted in cool fonts. Cut the letters out and place on wood. Trace with a pencil and then paint where your tracings were.

Let dry. Then paint the whole thing with watered down brown paint, or stain. Wipe it off quickly with a t-shirt type rag. Sand your sign and rough up the edges again. Finish with a quick dry polyurethane.

Again pardon my bad picture taking skills.

The colors are a little off from bad lighting and the camera flash but you get the idea. I have other stuff hanging up too but tried to just take pictures of the signs we made.

Instead of paying the $129 for EACH one, she created her own versions.

My Gardens Gate

I am linking this post to Kimbas linky party over at A Soft Place To Land When we bought our Casa here in The Land Of Enchantment a few years ago, it did not have this courtyard. Luckily I have a hubby who can fix or build anything, so he added it on last summer! I love my little courtyard/ garden and have been trying to make it my little desert oasis. We have been searching for a gate for some time, and finally found a little shop that made this custom gate for us!

Here is how she looked when they dropped her off.

Hubby beat her up a bit to give her some charm.

and used a grinder to give her some character.

The girls helped him stain her.

and then hubby added the hardware.

Isn't she a beauty? Excuse our landscape (or lack there of) We live out in the middle of nowhere ya know!

Here she is lit up at night. I still haven't found the perfect pottery to put in my niches. But I think I love her!

While at my parents house this past weekend, the Queen Enchantress and I did some spray painting! Mom and Dad are in the process of remodeling their whole house, and when I saw this beauty again I thought it needed a little remodel of its own. Isn't she pretty? I just loooove chandeliers and wish I had one in every room of my home! We took inspiration from Enchantress#1(big sis) and this previous post. Here is the before And here is the after. I think it looks amazing. Mom says she likes it (don't know if she is telling the truth,) and Dad is just happy I saved him hundreds of dollars in buying a new chandelier. What do you think?

Sarah over at Thrifty Decor Chick (One of my very favorite blogs ever) had a Goodwill/thrift store linky party on Monday. I was out of town visiting the Queen Enchantress, so I missed it. Show Us Where You Live- Kids Room

I have been so excited about this weeks Show Us Where You Live Party at KellysKorner because my girls room is my favorite room in my whole house! I still haven't figured out how to move the pictures around after I upload them, so they are not in order.

The first picture is looking out of their room. I eventually want to get a pink chandelier to hang in their entry.

Some fun artwork. My cute mom-in-law has been my Pottery Barn hookup over the years and it has been amazing! She also helped me paint this room. I really lucked out in the in- law area!

Good deals, and my attempt to copy Kimba

I don't think a girl can have to many apothecary jars or cheese trays. I have tons, and whenever I see one, I have to snatch it up. My heart skipped a beat when I saw these at Goodwill yesterday. The fruit holder I got at Hobby Lobby in there 66% of section for around 13 bucks. I cut it out of the picture, but it has a cute rooster on the top. I got the little jar to add to my collection yesterday for 1 buck at Goodwill!

I spray painted the first cheese tray black and liked it, so the other one is in my back yard drying as I am writing this! These lovelies were 3 bucks a piece. The little white bowl .25, nest I already had.

When I saw Kimbas idea to use apothecary jars to plant succulents I knew I had to copy her. I copy her allot. I already had this jar, so I headed to Lowe's yesterday to buy some succulents. Succulents is a fun word!:) I wonder how often I need to water these succulents, and if Kimba leaves her lid on or off of her succulents!:)

I got this amazing idea from Shannon and had already exhausted my Hobby Lobby budget for the week. ( they are having a 66% off sale on some amazing home decor right now! I got the wrought iron wall hanging above my window for 6 bucks!) I do not have much patience, and once I see a project I want to do, I have to do it now! So my little brain started ticking and this is what I came up with! Instead of expensive upholstery fabric, I used a shower curtain!

I cut it into strips

glued fringe to the bottom

and secured with upholstery tacks! Instant, no sew valance!

Magnet Board And Vases

I have been wanting to make a magnet board for some time, but didn't realize sheet metal was so pricey! Maybe I am looking in the wrong places? I asked Hubby if there ever happened to be any scraps around his work site (He is a bridge builder-Civil Engineer:) And he said sometimes. I think he was getting really tired of me asking him first thing when he got home if he found any of this precious metal! So, yesterday while browsing Good Will a light bulb went off when I saw this ugly tray for a buck!

A little white spray paint, and I have the perfect little magnet board for my laundry room!

I have seen these vases numerous times around blog land and wanted to give it a shot, so I picked these up at Good Will as well.

A little of hubby's twine was all it took to spruce these cheap vases up!

Show Us Where You Live

Last week was so fun, I just had to join the party at kellyskorner again! This Fridays room is the guest room.

Our home is only three bedrooms, so our guest room doubles as our office. This trusty couch pulls out into a bed. I framed a bunch of Amy Butler paper, and let hubby (the engineer) hang them for me.

I am linking this post to The Inspired Rooms procrastination party. My laundry room is FINALLY done, after much procrastination!

I have been working on my laundry room for some time now with tons of inspiration from two of my favorite blogs-Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick, and Shannon at Bless our Nest.

When hubby said, and I quote "Who decorates their laundry room?" I said "Sarah and Shannon do, that's who!" These ladies don't know this, but I have a feeling if we lived close to each other we would be the best of friends! I promise I am not a stalker, I just love their style!

I found these plates at Marshall's today for 2 bucks each! I have had these hooks for a while, but they were brown, so I did a little spray painting!

Here is my framed silhouette I got from my favorite place VinylSihouettes and my spray painted basket that now holds my dryer sheets!Some more of my cheap decor.

My 6 year old got me this candle holder for mothers day. I love it, and think it goes perfectly!

My loose change holder and other odds and ends. Hubby says my mossy rocks look like pickles.:)

The finished product. I am happy with it. Hubby is going to be so excited when he comes home! Tee, he, he!

My dear friend Heidi keeps telling me I need to post a picture showing the contrast of our work bench/creating center in the garage. ( Don't feel sorry for my hubby, he has another huge workbench holding all his manly tools on the other side of the garage.) Notice how my girlie things are slowly creeping onto his half. Tee, he, he!
Yesterday he said ~ "How would you feel if I started hanging guns and animal heads in the living room?" Should I feel bad? Because I don't!:) He told me I could use it for all my craftiness. I don't think this is what he had in mind though!
